New Performance Venue

The Flagship building of the new Civic and Cultural Quarter, the New Performance Venue is an £18 million state of the art multi-function venue for the performing arts.

Containing a 600 seat Auditorium, and a flexible 200-400 flat performance area, with separate Dance, Drama and Education spaces, and associated bars, cafe and dressing rooms.

Unique to this project, was a curved blackout blind, 7m high.  Not previously possible with conventional blackout systems, the Control 250 blackout was developed to provide effective light control without covering the feature glazing, and runs without any tensioning cables.

This project required extensive use of decor 600 100% Wool Serge curtaining for acoustic performance, along with total blackout to the critical performance areas, provided by decor 560 blackout blinds.

To retain the impact of the real wood panelling, all blackout blinds were fully recessed into the walls, and the manual ones were provided with magnetic removable handles.
