Palace Green Library

In the shadow of the awesome Durham Cathedral, is the University of Durham's Palace Green Library.  A world heritage site, with buildings dating back to the fifteenth century, this renovation project provided a real challenge for Decor Systems expertise.

In the Barker Reading room, Decor Systems provided motorised Acovo® Roller shades to the seven metre high feature facade.  The roller mechanisms are neatly concealed at the top with a powdercoated aluminium fascia.  Operation is at the touch of a button via remote handset, which brings the shades silently down to the pre-settable stop positions.  The Acovo® roller shade is distinguished by the Intelligent Fabric Syncro (IFS) feature, where the motors in each blind communicate with each other to ensure the shades are perfectly aligned along the facade, wherever you choose to stop them.

The Bishop Cosin's library, dating back to 1669, required special treatment to the lancet windows.  Screen fabric blinds were used in addition to special UV filtering film roller blinds, to provide a suitable environment for the hundreds of ancient manuscripts and books.
