Tower Hamlets Town Hall

Incorporating the former Royal London Hospital building, this brand new home for Tower Hamlets Council blends tasteful restoration with state of the art facilities.

The conferencing facilities even feature a meeting room in a former operating theatre complete with original overhead theatre lights and control panel.

Working closely with main contractor Bouygues UK, Decor Systems provided a mixture of manually operated and motorised blind systems throughout.  In the new build part the Decor 350 roller blinds were concealed in Perimeos blind boxes.  These boxes were coated in a fine texture RAL 8019 powdercoat to match the facade, and also served to cloak the unsightly facade to slab edge junction.

The blinds featured the decor Monaco screen fabric in a 1% openness factor, which filters out the direct glare but still allows some outward visibility.

Feature windows with triangular heads were shaded using a fixed fabric panel to the shaped part while a single motorised roller blind at 4.1 metres wide covered the lower section.

The council chamber featured fully motorised blackout blinds with the head boxes recessed into the plasterboard ceiling.
