York Art Gallery
York Art Gallery dates back to mid 1800s. In 2014-15 it underwent a major renovation and extension project to create 60% more exhibition space. Specialist contractors Simpson & Co worked with us to develop the shading solution which would be suited to the heritage environment.
The South Gallery featured 35 square metres of motorised horizontal roller blinds in a blackout material, and the Secret Gallery had 85 square metres of tensioned roller blinds to the vaulted roof. These were done in a screen material to gently attenuate the natural daylight entering through the roof windows.
Some of the rooms featured bottom-up roller blinds in our decor 365 system, providing privacy for the room users from passers by, but still allowing them a view outside.
